What is citrate?
The term citrate refers to the mineral salt of citric acid, an acid naturally present in citrus fruits and at the heart of energy metabolism (Krebs cycle).
Also called citric acid, citrate plays an essential role in regulating the body's acid-base balance: it helps to neutralize excess acidity produced during physical exertion or a high-protein diet.
